Evers announces $25 million in grants for EV charging stations across Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Forty-two locations in Wisconsin will receive grants to build electric vehicle charging stations, Governor Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation announced Tuesday. Officials said the project, which totals $25 million, was secured through the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program. The charging stations are designed to ensure Wisconsinites and visitors will have access to charging infrastructure needed to travel from point A to point B in Wisconsin. 'With gas prices that are sky-high thanks to President Trump's war in Iran, expanding our electric vehicle charging infrastructure and helping families save money on fuel is as important as ever, and we're doing it all while creating jobs, bolstering our local economies, and taking care of our planet, too,' said Gov. Evers. 'While the Trump Administration has repeatedly threatened this important funding, here in Wisconsin, we fought hard to make sure these investments came back home to Wisconsin like we were promised.' Evers said he and the DOT are proud to see the program support the state's network of clean energy EV charging stations and help meet Wisconsinites needs and the demands of a 21st century economy.
