Kohli and MS Dhoni (40 off 46) added 95 runs for the fifth wicket. However, Kohli perished to a full toss from Mitchell McClenaghan in the 45th over, with the score reading 237-7. The tail was left with too much to do as India finished on 268.

Kohli scored a fluent 102 off just 93 balls against South Africa in Raipur in December 2025 in the second ODI of the three-match series. However, this knock also came in a losing cause as South Africa chased down 359 in 49.2 overs to win the contest by four wickets.
