South Kerry set to receive wave of new bus stops

Five new bus stops are at design stage for south Kerry, with another six out for tender for a design consultant. Killorglin Astellas, Glenbeigh, Caherdaniel, Waterville and Sneem bus stops are in design stage, with the construction process due to commence following agency approval. Pedestrian crossings will be required at some of these locations which are being incorporated into the designs. Following National Transport Authority and on national roads, Transport Infrastructure Ireland approval, these bus stops will progress through the Kerry County Council and onto construction. Out for tender are bus stops at Kilgarvan, Kenmare, Portmagee, Chapeltown, Knightstown and an upgrade for Killorglin's stop. Kerry County Council has recently completed works at Beaufort village, with a pole and sign to follow in due course. The council was granted €500,000 as part of the Bus Stop Enhancement Scheme in 2025 which is being invested in new stops and upgrades across the county. 15 bus stop signs and three bus shelters were installed last year, with many more in design stage or awaiting approval.
