Coco Gauff is back in the U.S. Open quarterfinals for the first time since winning the tournament in 2023, but the American star acknowledged that reaching this stage of a Grand Slam no longer feels quite as daunting. The No. 4 seed defeated No. 14 Iva Jovic 6-1, 6-4 on Monday night, extending her winning streak to 10 matches. Gauff has won nine consecutive matches in straight sets, the longest such streak of her career, and will face fifth-seeded Mirra Andreeva on Wednesday. "The quarterfinal for me, I feel like I'm at the point where I'm used to being in this position," Gauff said, via ESPN News Services. "The moment doesn't seem as big anymore … (but) I'm very lucky to be playing here in the quarterfinal and obviously I hope to play many more."Gauff, 22, has now reached the quarterfinals at three majors this year for the first time in her career. She is the youngest American woman to accomplish that feat in a single year since Serena Williams did so at 21 in 2003. Her latest win continued a dominant stretch that began in Cincinnati. Gauff has not dropped a set since her opening match at the Cincinnati Open, winning six matches there to claim the title before taking her first four matches in New York in straight sets. "I thought today was a good match for me," Gauff said. "First set was really high level for me, and she raised her level in the second and I had some opportunities to maybe get up some early breaks. We're all just happy with how I was able to close the last game out from love-30." Gauff's return to the quarterfinals also marks her deepest U.S. Open run since capturing her first major title in 2023. She lost to Emma Navarro in the fourth round in 2024 and Naomi Osaka at the same stage last year. Gauff will now meet Andreeva with a semifinal berth at stake. She holds a 5-0 career record against the French Open champion, including a win in their only hard-court meeting at the 2023 U.S. Open.
