Cruise-in slated for Friday, Saturday at mall

Muscle Car Ministries will present its 13th annual Maryville Auto Fest Cruise-in today, Sept. 4 and Saturday, Sept. 5 at Foothills Mall in Maryville. The hours are 5 to 9 p.m. today and there is no cost to participate. On Saturday, the event lasts from 9 .m. to 3 p.m. with entry fee of $20. Location is near BJ's. Categories include Classic, Muscle, Trucks and Modern Rides, with all makes and models welcome. The grand prize winner will take home a tool box value at $3,000.One of the organizers, Frank Chamberlain, said close to 200 cars will be on display Saturday. They start arriving as early as 7 a.m. All of the money raised will go to Blount County Habitat for Humanity, something this organization has done every year. In addition to the car show, there will be food trucks and vendors. The day is sponsored by NAPA. Habitat Restore will bring its car-related items to sell.
