The Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati, today commemorated the birth centenary of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhupen Hazarika with a special tribute celebrating his enduring contribution to music, culture and humanity.
The programme featured a floral tribute, musical performances and reflections on the life and legacy of the legendary artiste, widely remembered as the 'Bard of the Brahmaputra'.
Chief Airport Officer Rahul Bhatkoti also attended the programme. Kuwali Hazarika, niece of Dr Bhupen Hazarika, was the Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Kuwali Hazarika shared heartfelt words on his life and legacy.
Airline partners and airport officials also paid tribute through musical performances, bringing alive some of the spirit and emotion associated with his timeless compositions.
Extending the message of the celebration beyond the airport premises, saplings were distributed among passengers as a symbol of humanity, harmony and hope, values that remained central to Dr Hazarika's artistic and social vision.
The tribute echoed one of his most enduring messages: 'Manuhe Manuhor Babe' a call for compassion, unity and humanity.
