International Literacy Day 2026

A complete standalone Year 9 English creative writing lesson designed for International Literacy Day 2026. This 60-minute KS3 lesson guides students through the process of creating an original short story while explicitly teaching key creative writing skills throughout. The lesson is structured around the idea that a character discovers something written that they were never supposed to see, giving students freedom to develop their story as a mystery, thriller, fantasy, dystopian, realistic or adventure piece.
