In the first week of college football, three quarterbacks in the Big 12 topped 300 passing yards, including Cutter Boley out of Arizona State, who put up 387 passing yards and six touchdowns en route to the Sun Devils' 70-7 win over Morgan State. Other notable quarterback performances were from DJ Lagway and Conner Weigman. While Lagway ultimately was not able to lead the Bears to a win over Auburn, he had a decent debut with two touchdowns and a pick, although he only completed 50 percent of his passes. Weigman helped Houston pull away from Oregon State in the fourth quarter with a one-yard touchdown to make it a two-possession game. Absent from the passing touchdowns list is Drew Mestemaker, the transfer quarterback from North Texas to Oklahoma State who threw one touchdown but also had two picks in the Cowboys' loss to Tulsa. Turnovers plagued Oklahoma State in their season opener and cast doubt on how the Cowboys will perform this season.
