Haredi party nominates first woman for Israel's Knesset

In Israel, the ultra-Orthodox party Ha-Tzibur Ha-Haredi has included Dr. Nechumi Yaffe on its electoral list for the election to the 26th Knesset. Political psychology researcher Nechumi Yaffe works as a political psychology researcher at Tel Aviv University. She also works with Harvard University as part of the 'Israel and Regional Economy' initiative, which studies the lifestyle of Haredim, the ultra-Orthodox Jewish community. Ha-Tzibur Ha-Haredi leader Moti Leitner said that throughout more than 30 years of her educational and academic career, Yaffe has worked to support members of the Haredi community. Other parties presented their lists On the same day, the Reservists-Economy party, led by Yoaz Hendel and Yaron Zelekha, published its electoral list. Former Knesset member Einat Wilf, who served in the 18th Knesset from 2010 to 2013, took third place on it. According to a KAN broadcaster poll published the day before, the Hendel-Zelekha alliance may pass the electoral threshold and receive four seats. The Otzma Yehudit party also presented its list, led by Itamar Ben-Gvir, with former Likud member of the Knesset Tally Gotliv in second place. The Democrats, led by Yair Golan, announced a list of 120 candidates: 20 of them were selected in primaries, while the remaining 100 were chosen from among party members. Deadline for submitting lists On Monday, candidate lists were also submitted by Ofer Winter's People of Israel party and Gadi Eisenkot's Yashar party. According to the publication, the deadline for submitting electoral lists expires on Tuesday evening.
