Eastern Iowa toddler dies after falling into pool, sheriff says

SCOTT COUNTY, Iowa — An investigation is underway after a toddler fell into a pool and later died. On Sunday, just before 2:30 p.m., deputies with the Scott County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of an unresponsive child at a home on Maysville Road in rural Scott County. The sheriff's office said that when first responders arrived at the home, they found a 2-year-old child unresponsive and transported her to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics via air ambulance. According to the sheriff's office, the child fell into a pool and was in it for an unknown amount of time. The child's family located her, called 911, and immediately began life-saving measures before first responders arrived. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
