Monroe Woman Killed After Hyundai Catches Fire In Crash: NYSP

Troopers from the Monroe barracks came upon the vehicle fire on Cedar Cliff Road in the Town of Monroe, Orange County around 2:26 a.m., police said. The Town of Monroe Fire Department extinguished the flames. The driver and sole occupant, Jodi Lester, 56, of Monroe, was extricated from the 2020 Hyundai and pronounced dead at the scene, according to State Police. A preliminary investigation found the Hyundai left the roadway for an unknown reason. Damage from the crash led to the vehicle fire, police said. The investigation remains ongoing. State Police were assisted by the Town of Monroe Fire Department and Police Department, Orange County fire investigators, Town of Monroe EMS, and State Police forensic and collision reconstruction units.
