Critics and Audiences Adore Spider-Noir, But It's Canceled After One Season

Despite winning multiple Emmys and earning high praise from critics and viewers, Prime Video's Spider-Noir has been canceled after just a single season, leaving creatives and fans eager for a second installment. 2026 has been a banner year for comic book TV shows, even if some of the best ones weren't given a chance to continue beyond their first season. One of the first shows to dazzle the world earlier this year was Wonder Man, Marvel's long-gestating showbiz/superhero epic starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley. The show was a critical hit and also earned strong viewership after being dropped as a binge back in January, and Marvel Studios even gifted Wonder Man a rare Season 2 renewal. However, a few months later, the studio went back on its word and announced that the show had been canceled after only one season. Another critically acclaimed comic book series to recently suffer the same fate was Spider-Noir, the neo-noir detective thriller starring Nicolas Cage. Spider-Noir earned scores of 92% from critics and 89% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and it spent over two months at the top of Prime Video streaming charts. Creatives and cast members involved in the making of the show also expressed interest in coming back and doing another season, which made its cancellation at the end of last week that much more surprising. After being nominated for 11 Emmys, which was the most of any Prime Video series this year, Spider-Noir ultimately took home five awards for Best Cinematography, Best Sound Editing, Best Special Visual Effects, Best Stunt Coordination, and Best Main Title Design. Fans are already using this as ammunition against Prime Video, pushing back against the streaming service and arguing that the show deserves a chance to come back for Season 2
