ISLAMABAD, Sep 15 (APP):The sale and production of cars in the country witnessed an increase of 79.92 and 36.21 percent respectively, during the first two months of the current financial year 2026-27 as compared to the corresponding period of last year.
During the July-August 2026-27, as many as 30,933 cars were sold against the sale of 17,192 units while the production of cars increased from 22,446 units to 30,574 units, showing growth of 79.92 and 36.21 percent respectively, said Pakistan Automobile Manufacturing Association (PAMA).
Among major manufacturers, Honda car sales witnessed a significant increase of 175.89 percent, rising to 5,082 units from 1,842 units during the corresponding period last year.
Sales of Toyota Corolla and Toyota Yaris also increased to 7,362 units from 4,971 units.
Suzuki Swift sales rose to 3,490 units from 1,995 units, while Hyundai Elantra sales stood at 669 units compared with 286 units last year.
On the other hand, Suzuki Cultus sales declined to 688 units from 736 units, while Hyundai Sonata sales fell to 55 units from 124 units during the period under review.
Sales of Suzuki Alto more than doubled, increasing to 12,556 units from 6,520 units in the corresponding period of last year, PAMA data showed.
Meanwhile, 123 units of the newly launched Dewan Honri-VE electric vehicle were sold during July-August 2026.
On the production side, Honda car output increased by 162.70 percent, rising to 5,614 units from 2,137 units during the period under review.
Production of Toyota Corolla and Toyota Yaris also increased to 7,313 units from 5,098 units.
Suzuki Swift production rose to 3,225 units from 2,239 units, showing an increase of 44.03 percent, while Hyundai Elantra production increased to 690 units from 430 units.
Production of Hyundai Sonata declined to 81 units from 226 units, whereas Suzuki Cultus production increased to 935 units from 699 units.
Suzuki Alto production also increased, rising to 11,551 units from 11,046 units, an increase of 4.57 percent, according to the PAMA data.
The data further showed that 93 units of the newly launched Dewan Honri-VE electric vehicle were manufactured during July-August 2026.
