Three customs officials arrested over alleged Rs4.1m fraud in Lahore

LAHORE: Police have arrested three serving Customs officials in Lahore over two separate alleged fraud incidents. According to a Pakistan Customs spokesperson, authorities received information about suspected fraudulent activities involving Customs officials. Three officials taken into custody Qila Gujjar Singh and Civil Lines police conducted an operation near the Bibi Pak Daman shrine. They arrested a three-member group allegedly involved in the incidents. The arrested officials were identified as Shakeel, Ghulam Rasool and Abdullah, according to Pakistan Customs. Loaded vehicles allegedly diverted Deputy Inspector-General of Police Faisal Kamran said the suspects allegedly stopped loaded vehicles during purported inspections. The officials allegedly diverted the vehicles and their goods to Customs House Lahore. They then allegedly fled with the vehicles and goods. According to police, goods worth approximately Rs4.1 million were taken during the two incidents. The allegedly stolen cloth was later recovered during the investigation. Cases registered Separate cases have been registered against the suspects. Police and Customs authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the full circumstances of the alleged fraud. Officials are also examining the recovered goods and other evidence linked to the two incidents.
