And we're ready to stock up.
You might think Cheetos snacks know no seasons. Flamin' Hot Cheetos taste just as good on a summer road trip as Cheetos Puffs do during a winter movie night. But true Chester Cheetah enthusiasts see things a little differently.
There's a reason some fans consider fall the "best time of the year for Cheetos." And no, it's not the arrival of the new Sweet Phantom Heat Puffs, although that unexpected flavor has certainly given us plenty to talk about.
The real event is the return of the limited-edition Halloween snack devoted fans hunt down year after year: Bag of Bones. After more than a decade of spooky snacking, the seasonal puffs are officially coming back to shelves for a limited time.
Cheetos Bag of Bones Now Back on Shelves
Cheetos has confirmed that its beloved Bag of Bones snacks are rising from the grave once again for Halloween.
The seasonal Cheetos first crept onto shelves in 2014, featuring White Cheddar-flavored corn puffs shaped like skulls, rib cages, long bones, and hands. If you've never tried them, they're lighter and airier than classic crunchy pieces—more like Cheetos Puffs—and, with enough patience, can even be arranged into a complete snack skeleton.
Since then, Bag of Bones has returned almost every Halloween, sometimes in new flavors and sizes. This year, Cheetos is bringing back two fan favorites: savory White Cheddar and sweet Cinnamon Sugar.
Of course, longtime Bag of Bones fans may have already noticed that one popular flavor is missing from this year's lineup: Flamin' Hot. Many consider it the best of the bunch, and their disappointment is loud and clear: "Another year without the hot Cheeto bones?!" one fan commented. "I'm so upset. The best bag of bones is the flaming hot ones, and they are not having them again this year," wrote another.
Still, plenty of shoppers are excited about the flavors that will be returning to shelves. One fan wrote, "I live for those Cheetos cinnamon sugar bag o' bones each year!" while another added, "They got me ready for Halloween—let's go."
And don't forget there's still time for Cheetos to bring back last year's Flamin' Hot Fiery Skulls as a spicy consolation prize.
The White Cheddar and Cinnamon Sugar Bag of Bones will be officially returning nationwide on Sept. 14, but some shoppers have already spotted them in stores, including oversized bags at Sam's Club.
So, if you're ready to kick off the unofficial best time of the Cheetos year, take a look down the snack aisle. A Bag of Bones might already be waiting for you.
