Forus Raises $3 Million to Bring Agentic AI to Medical Prescriptions

Healthcare technology developerForusraised $150 million in new funding, according to a Tuesday (Sept. 8)press release. The startup's Series C round values Forus at $3 billion and will help the company bring its product to new medical offices around the country, the release said. Forus offers an artificial intelligence platform designed to coordinate the healthcare supply chain and streamline how patients access prescribed clinical treatments. The company's data shows more than a third of patients prescribed complex or high-cost medications never receive their first dose due to administrative friction, per the release. 'Forus closes that gap by giving every prescription its ownAI agent, across every drug, payer and pharmacy in the country, free for doctors and patients,' the release said. 'Every person has a different medical history, insurance coverage andfinancial situation, which govern how we navigate the supply chain for them. Our agents work like case managers, reasoning through each person's situation, determining what needs to happen next, and taking action across the portals, documents, phone calls and faxes that the system still runs on.' Forus supports patients across all 50 states, reaching 85% of U.S. ZIP codes, according to the release. 'Every prescription gives our agents and teams another real case to learn from and expands what we understand about the combinations they will encounter next,' the release said. The new funding comes ashealthcarecompanies 'are putting AI to work first in places where staff strain, patient demand and operational complexity collide,' PYMNTS reported in June. Healthcare trails financial services in the number of tasks that have reached high adoption, with 10 healthcare tasks hitting that mark compared with 27 in financial services and insurance. 'Yet healthcare's narrower deployment also suggests discipline,' the June report said. 'The sector is concentrating AI in areas where it can reduce friction now, then build toward broader transformation once data and system integration improve.'
