1 dead in hit-and-run near Alberta-Saskatchewan border

One person was killed early Monday morning in a hit-and-run in Lloydminster, located on the Alberta-Saskatchewan border. Mounties arrived to a report of an injured person laying on the road of 49 Avenue near Highway 16 around 6:30 a.m.. They were taken to hospital and later pronounced deceased. Investigators say they have identified a potential suspect vehicle and driver, but the investigation is ongoing and public assistance is needed. Anyone with information about or dashcam footage of the incident is asked to contact Lloydminster RCMP at 780-808-8400. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers. Mounties say further updates are expected as details become available. Lloydminster is about 230 kilometres east of Edmonton.
