TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Things remain relatively quiet for the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season as we reach the typical climatological peak for the year.
While the southeastern United States has seen some tropical activity and storms form in the past few months, hurricane season has yet to produce a hurricane as of yet.
If we make it past Friday without a hurricane, this hurricane season would set a new record for the latest date for a hurricane to form.
However, this has not been the case for the Pacific hurricane season, with Hurricane Lowell currently threatening Hawaii.Submit Correction Δ
