Driver arrested following hit-and-run investigation outside Bryan sports bar

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - A 27-year-old Bryan man faces a felony charge after police say he ran over another person twice with a pickup truck and fled the scene outside a local sports bar early Monday morning. Bryan police responded around 2 a.m. to 1204 W. William J. Bryan Parkway following reports of a hit-and-run. According to an arrest report, officers arrived to find a male victim who had been run over by the driver of a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado. Surveillance video provided by a nearby business captured the moments leading up to the incident. Investigators say the footage shows the victim outside the bar with three other men. A verbal exchange quickly turned physical. The video then shows the men retreat to their pickup truck. As they attempted to leave, the victim approached the truck and began hitting the passenger-side window, police said. The driver then put the truck in reverse. The vehicle's side-view mirror struck the victim, knocking him to the ground where he was run over. The driver then shifted into drive, ran the victim over a second time, and fled the scene. Officers located the suspect vehicle approximately 20 minutes later on Old Spanish Trail, about six miles away from the bar. The driver was arrested and charged with Collision Involving Serious Bodily Injury. He was released on a $15,000 bond the same day. The victim was treated for a serious arm injury, which officers noted had visible tire marks on it.
