Ryanair issues urgent cancelled flights update as UK Airports hit with delays

Ryanair has called for the CEO of NATS, Martin Rolfe, to quit, as the company rages at more cancelled and delayed flights amid a new Air Traffic Control glitch. On Tuesday, the airline called on NATS CEO to quit after "yet another UK ATC system failure caused widespread delays and cancellations across UK airspace today, disrupting over 65,000 Ryanair passengers and cancelling over 50 scheduled flights". In a message, Ryanair said: "Just three years after NATS' catastrophic August 2023 system collapse, UK passengers are once again paying the price for NATS' failure to deliver a reliable ATC service." The airline also said the latest air traffic control issues delayed more than 65,000 passengers. Ryanair said Martin Rolfe should resign. (Image: Getty) Ryanair COO, Neal McMahon, said: "Over three years after NATS' catastrophic 2023 system meltdown, it's clear that nothing has changed, with UK passengers once again suffering avoidable ATC delays of up to 8 hours today due to a critical NATS ATC system failing. Families travelling on holiday, people travelling for work and thousands of visitors to the UK have once again paid the price for NATS' abhorrent failure." The Daily Express has contacted Nats for comment. Some 425 flights were cancelled to and from UK airports as of 5pm following the issue, flight monitoring website Flightradar24 said. Passengers have been advised to check the latest flight information with their airlines, while airports apologised for the disruption caused. According to FlightRadar24, EasyJet had 137 flights cancelled, British Airways 111, KLM 26, Eurowings 22, and Ryanair 21. In its latest update, Nats said its system is starting to recover.
