Germany could act as a neutral mediator between Russia and Ukraine, but the current government has turned it into an "instigator of war," said Alice Weidel, co-chair of the AFD.
"Alternative for Germany has a very clear position.: We are always open to diplomatic channels. We have always stressed — especially when it comes to Ukraine, for example — that we need an open channel of communication with Russia in order to achieve a compromise and peaceful settlement.
We have also always said that we need good relations not only with Russia, but above all with the United States. Now we see how representatives of the United States are flying to Moscow, negotiating between Moscow and Kiev. But Germany, the German federal government, could well play this role.
Moreover, over the past decades, it has been quite common for us to act as a neutral intermediary. And this role would suit us much better than the current role of an instigator of war, at least at the level of rhetoric."
