A man who allegedly told police that a bag of dagga was food for his birds is expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate's Court on drug charges.
The incident began when security guards at a Green Point mall reported two suspicious men near the ATMs on Monday. Police said one man fled when he saw Public Order Police officers, while the other was arrested.
Police officers reported that the drama started when security guards at a mall in Green Point reported two suspicious men near the ATMs.
'They identified the suspects and one of them fled, while the second male suspect sat on a 25-litre bucket.
'Inside the bucket were 3050 grams of dagga. The suspect claimed that it was food for his pigeons.
'When the K9 unit confirmed that it was dagga, he produced a permit that was not in his name. He was arrested for possession of dagga,' Constable Ndakhe Gwala said.
Once charged, the suspect will appear before the Cape Town Magistrate's Court.
