LIMA, OH (WLIO) — Simple changes to workplace practices could help companies hire and retain hard-working employees with disabilities.
Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities spoke to the West Central Ohio Safety Council about making reasonable accommodations for people with disabilities.
Those accommodations could include a modified work schedule to allow employees to attend medical appointments, restructuring a job to adapt to a person's disability or modifying company policies that could affect a person's ability to do their job.
By making simple accommodations, companies could add valued employees who can be a great asset to their organizations.
'And actually, retention because there are many people who have invisible disabilities. We don't always know somebody has a disability and it's important to retain our employees as well,' says Shelly Burkhart, Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities.
