Saharanpur, September 8 (Daily Kiran) : The ongoing mosque controversy in Saharanpur has taken a new turn as BJP lawmaker Ramesh Chandra Mishra has made significant claims regarding the site's history. He insists that evidence uncovered by the Archaeological Department suggests that a Hindu temple once stood where the mosque is currently located.
Mishra stated that historical Muslim invaders demolished ancient temples across the country, replacing them with mosques. He referenced notable sites such as Mathura, Kashi Vishwanath, and the Ram Temple, asserting that many temples were destroyed to establish mosques during the period of Muslim rule.
According to him, the emergence of a government aligned with Sanatan Dharma has rekindled faith among people, priests, and those with religious sentiments. He expressed confidence that temples, which were once destroyed, can be revived. This renewed belief has led to numerous appeals in courts for investigations that could potentially reveal remnants of Hindu temples.
The BJP leader mentioned that a team from the Archaeological Department had visited Saharanpur, releasing videos and photographs of their findings. He claimed that bricks discovered at the site, along with inscriptions of deities, support his assertions. Additionally, evidence of caves and wells was also reported.
Mishra emphasized that the findings are clear indicators that a Hindu temple existed at the site, not a mosque. He thanked the Uttar Pradesh government and the courts for facilitating the review of this matter.
He also noted that the Archaeological Department would have adhered to legal protocols during their investigation, dismissing claims that the issue is merely political. He stressed that Hindus and supporters of Sanatan Dharma are optimistic about the potential reconstruction of a grand temple at the site.
Furthermore, Mishra asserted that Sanatan Dharma is the oldest religion, from which all other religions have emerged. He criticized the misrepresentation of structures found at various sites, such as the Shivling at Kashi Vishwanath, which some have incorrectly labeled as ablution areas. He accused certain factions of attempting to tarnish Hindu culture, while asserting that Hindus do not make derogatory remarks about mosques, yet temples are often targeted.
