Frances Neagley is finally getting her own show.
After becoming one of the most popular supporting characters in Reacher, Maria Sten returns as the former Army investigator in Neagley, the first spinoff from Prime Video's hit action series. The new show moves away from Jack Reacher and gives Neagley her own case, her own team and a very different setting in Chicago.
But this is not a clean break from Reacher. The new series still has a connection to Reacher, and Alan Ritchson is returning as Jack Reacher in a guest role.
That makes Neagley particularly interesting for viewers coming straight from Reacher Season 4. Here's what you need to know before watching.
What is Neagley's Release Date?
Neagley premieres on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, on Prime Video.
The good news for anyone who prefers to binge their shows is that all eight episodes of Season 1 will be released at once. There is no weekly wait between episodes. Prime Video confirmed that the full season will be available in more than 240 countries and territories.
The timing is deliberate. Neagley arrives on the same day as the Reacher Season 4 finale. In other words, viewers can finish the latest season of Reacher and move straight into Neagley's first solo story.

What is Neagley about?
The series follows Frances Neagley after she has moved on from her military career and established herself as a private investigator in Chicago.
Her new life changes when she learns that an old friend has died in what appears to be a suspicious accident. Neagley does not believe the explanation, and her investigation soon takes her into something much bigger and more dangerous.
The basic setup keeps some of what made Neagley work in Reacher. She is highly capable, disciplined and not particularly interested in wasting time. But this time, she is the one at the center of the investigation.
The series also gives Maria Sten the chance to explore parts of Neagley's life that the main show has only been able to hint at. Sten previously said that Neagley has a history and personal issues of her own that she could not fully explore in Reacher.
That is probably the biggest reason this spinoff exists. It is not simply Reacher without Reacher. It is an attempt to show who Neagley is when she is no longer operating as part of Reacher's orbit.
Is Reacher in Neagley?
Yes. Alan Ritchson returns as Jack Reacher, although he is a guest star rather than the lead.
Prime Video has already confirmed his appearance, and the first footage gives us an idea of how the reunion happens.
In the opening scene released by Entertainment Weekly, Neagley is working a job in Chicago when a group of men steal a bag of money from her car. Reacher appears unexpectedly, helping stop their escape. Neagley takes down one of the men while Reacher deals with the other.
The scene ends with Neagley asking one question
'Where is she?'
The identity of the woman she is looking for is being kept under wraps for now.
More importantly, the scene confirms that Reacher and Neagley still have a relationship after everything we've seen in the main series. Their reunion is not just a promotional cameo. It appears to be part of the story that launches Neagley's first solo investigation.
Neagley Cast: Who is returning from Reacher?
The most important returning cast member is obviously Maria Sten as Frances Neagley.
Sten has played Neagley throughout the Reacher series and now moves into the lead role. She is joined by Alan Ritchson, who returns as Reacher for a guest appearance.
But don't expect the rest of Reacher's familiar team to turn up in the new show.
The main Neagley cast consists largely of new characters created specifically for the spinoff.
The Neagley Season 1 cast
Maria Sten as Frances Neagley
Neagley is now a Chicago private investigator. Her military background remains an important part of who she is, particularly her time with the Army's 110th Special Investigations Unit alongside Reacher.
Alan Ritchson as Jack Reacher
Ritchson returns in a guest role. His appearance connects the spinoff directly to the main Reacher series, but this remains Neagley's story.
Greyston Holt as Detective Hudson Riley
Holt plays a Chicago detective who becomes part of Neagley's new world.
Adeline Rudolph as Renee Birdwhistle
Rudolph joins the series as another new character whose connection to Neagley's investigation will become clearer as the story unfolds.
Jasper Jones as Keno
Jones plays Keno, another member of the new ensemble.
Matthew Del Negro as Pierce Woodrow
Del Negro joins the cast as Pierce Woodrow.
Damon Herriman as Lawrence Cole
Herriman rounds out the main cast as Lawrence Cole.
The important distinction for Reacher fans is that Maria Sten and Alan Ritchson are the only actors from the main cast currently confirmed to appear in the spinoff. The rest of the regular cast is made up of new characters.
So if you're coming to Neagley expecting another reunion of the 110th Special Investigations Unit, that's not quite what this show is doing.
How is Neagley different from Reacher?
The biggest difference is the scale of the story.
Reacher usually places Jack in the middle of a large conspiracy and lets him work his way through it using a combination of investigation, intimidation and brute force. Neagley starts from a more personal place.
Someone she knows has died. She does not trust the circumstances surrounding the death. That gives the story a more personal motivation before it expands into something larger.
The setting matters too. Neagley is based in Chicago, where she works as a private investigator. That gives the series a different environment from the constantly changing locations of Reacher.
There is another important difference. Unlike the main series, which adapts Lee Child's novels, Neagley is telling an original story created for television. The spinoff is based on Child's character, but its first season is not adapting an existing Neagley novel.
Interestingly, Child is still involved as an executive producer.
Where to watch Neagley
Neagley is streaming exclusively on Prime Video.
All eight episodes arrive on September 16, 2026, so viewers do not need to wait for a new episode each week.
Watch Neagley on Prime Video
If you're watching in release order, the simplest plan is to finish the Reacher Season 4 finale first and then start Neagley. The two shows are deliberately being released on the same day, and the opening of the spinoff brings Reacher and Neagley back together.
Does Neagley take place after Reacher Season 4?
The important thing to know is that Neagley is part of the same television universe as Reacher, but the show is designed to work as Neagley's own story.
Prime Video has positioned the premiere directly alongside the Reacher Season 4 finale. The exact details connecting the two stories are being kept quiet, but the confirmed appearance of Reacher makes it clear that the spinoff is not disconnected from the events and characters of the main series.
For fans who have followed Neagley since Season 1, this is the payoff. The character who was once part of Reacher's supporting team now gets to operate on her own terms.
And that may be the most interesting thing about Neagley. The question is no longer what happens when Reacher walks into a dangerous situation.
It's what happens when Neagley gets there first.
