Former Miami-Dade high school football coach charged with sexual battery of student in 2012

A former football coach at a Miami-Dade High School was arrested after being accused of sexually battering a student in 2012, authorities said. William Adam Jones, 46, was charged with custodial sexual battery, Miami-Dade Jail records show. Watch NBC6 free wherever you are According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office, Jones worked as a football coach and a security guard at the school from 2007 to 2019. The high school was not named. An arrest warrant said the victim, who is now 31 years old, was a student who attended the high school from 2010-2013, and was part of the school's football program, where she made the team's schedule under Jones' supervision. During a day in August 2012, the victim, who was 17 years old, was at the athletic office creating the football team's schedule when Jones came in, turned the lights off, approached the victim, picked her up, kissed her and pinned her against a wall, the warrant said. ' Jones, the warrant said, then forced her to engage in intercourse, and she was in shock and froze. After the incident, Jones and the victim had sex three times at the school before she turned 18, the warrant said. When she turned 18, the two had consensual sex at her residence, and they developed a relationship while she was still attending high school. Jones is employed at the Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department and has since been relieved of duty as an investigation continues.
