The Hawks, who lost a 5-0 lead early on, scored a pair of runs in the top of the eighth inning to edge the Dragons. Mill Creek fell to Buford 17-7 the following night. •Cherokee Bluff blanks Oconee County in region softball play: The Bears beat the Warriors 6-0 at home Thursday (Sept. 3) to improve to 11-4 overall and 6-1 in Region 8-AAAA play. Peyton Davis fired a one-hit shutout, striking out 11 batters. Lillie Diehl went 2-for-3 with a double, while Haley Stephenson was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. The Bears beat East Hall 10-3 two days earlier on Sept. 1 in region action.
