Dunkin' Reunites Spice Girls with Rachel Dratch as Long-Lost Pumpkin Spice

Dunkin' has finally answered the question of who the sixth member of the Spice Girls was. The brand's new fall ad reveals that the long-lost bandmate is Pumpkin Spice, played by comedian and actress Rachel Dratch. In the spot, Emma 'Baby Spice' Bunton and Geri 'Ginger Spice' Halliwell-Horner reunite with Dratch's character, who shows up in a pumpkin-orange outfit with a British accent that's questionable at best. They reminisce about her contributions to the group, including songs like 'Don't Squash My Love' and 'Walk Through My Pumpkin Patch.' Her choreography may have been ahead of its time, but Pumpkin Spice ultimately left pop stardom behind to pursue a solo career in lattes. 'It almost sounds like an SNL sketch in the best way possible,' Dratch, a former 'Saturday Night Live' cast member, told the Boston Globe. 'I love when ads don't feel like ads, they just feel like you're watching a comedy sketch, and that's exactly what this felt like to me, so I was instantly psyched.' The Lexington, Massachusetts native said she was especially thrilled to work with her hometown company. The costume, designed by her friend Michael Fusco, 'just kind of screams comedy and diva pop star at the same time.' Dunkin's campaign launches Tuesday, and to celebrate, the chain is offering a free medium Pumpkin Spice Signature Latte with a qualifying purchase from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. local time. The promotion comes as part of Dunkin's broader pumpkin season, which began Aug. 19. More social content featuring Dratch, Bunton, and Halliwell-Horner is expected throughout the fall. Could Pumpkin Spice someday join forces with Ben Affleck's DunKings? Dratch, whose Boston accent occasionally slips out during the conversation, didn't rule it out. 'From your mouth to God's ears,' she said. The ad is now airing on Dunkin's digital channels.
