DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Aug, 2026) The district administration has launched a crackdown on fertiliser dealers for violating Section-144 and overcharging farmers, sealing four shops, imposing a fine of Rs10,000 on one dealer and sending three others to jail.
Assistant Commissioner Dera Dr Muhammad Hamid Siddiq inspected fertiliser shops in different areas to ensure the sale of fertiliser at officially notified rates and compliance with regulations governing agricultural inputs.
During inspections along Chashma Road and at Sheikh Yousuf Chowk, a fertiliser shop was sealed for violating prescribed prices and other legal requirements. The dealer was subsequently fined Rs10,000 after completion of the legal proceedings.
Separately, under the supervision of Tehsildar Dera Umar Farooq, an enforcement drive was conducted with officials of the Agriculture Extension Department.
Fertiliser shops along Madi Road, Tank Road, Zafarabad, Korai and the Bypass areas were inspected.
Four fertiliser shops were sealed for violating Section-144 and overcharging, while three dealers were sent to jail for failing to meet mandatory legal requirements. Action was also taken against other violations in accordance with the law.
The assistant commissioner said artificial shortages, illegal hoarding, sale of fertiliser above notified prices and other violations would not be tolerated. He said enforcement operations would be intensified across the district to ensure farmers had access to quality fertiliser at officially approved rates.
