Gas prices inch even higher across Idaho following record-breaking Labor Day

Drivers in Idaho are still feeling the sting at the pump after record-breaking Labor Day gas prices, with the state's average inching higher again this week. According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in Idaho is $4.62, about two cents higher than a week ago. That price is also 27 cents more than a month ago and $1.16 more than a year ago. The national average is $4.15 per gallon, six cents more than a week ago, 13 cents more than a month ago, and 96 cents more than a year ago. Idaho ranks seventh this week for the most expensive gasoline. 'In a typical year, you would expect a large drop in gasoline prices soon after Labor Day. People stay closer to home, and the winter-blend fuel is cheaper to make,' said Matthew Conde, AAA Idaho's public affairs director. 'This year is anything but typical. Far from it.'
