Radiohead announces Australia and Japan 2027 tour dates The shows will mark the band's first live shows in either country in over a decade. Radiohead has announced a series of residency shows across Australia and Japan for 2027. The tour amounts to 21 shows in total: sixteen in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, and five in Saitama, near Tokyo. It is the iconic British band's first tour of Japan in 19 years. It also marks their return to Australia, where they have not played since 2012 in support of their 2011 LP, King of Limbs. The Australia and Japan performances are part of a major series of tours Radiohead has undertaken in recent years. 2025 saw the 'High and Dry' hitmakers – who have not released a new album since 2016's A Moon Shaped Pool – tour across Europe. Their London show broke the record of attendance for the city's O2 Arena, with over 22,000 tickets sold. The news will come as a delight to Radiohead fans across Australia and Japan, but not necessarily a shock. In 2026, in an interview with Rolling Stone, guitarist Ed O'Brien said: 'What we're going to do is, every year we're going to do a different continent, and we're going to do 20 shows each year.' 'We do not ever want it to be like we're going through the motions or we're having to run on empty. We've got to be able to do it. And you know what? We're not spring chickens anymore.' In an interview with The Times of London last year, guitarist Johnny Greenwood commented that 'it was great to revisit songs that we always felt were good and to find lots of other people now agree with us.' 'It was really nice to be playing and listening to Thom again,' he continued. 'But I found it strange not to be doing anything new on the tour. I guess we are all doing new music elsewhere now so that's where our creative energies are going.'
