₦40,000 IS AN ABUSE, BUT ₦14,000 IS WHAT ARTHUR JARVIS OFFERED: THE HYPOCRISY IN HIS 'CONCERN' FOR OUR CHIEFS By Francis Finian Offionor I watched a live video of our elder brother, Sir Arthur Javis, where he was addressing the Chiefs, in Northern Cross River, alongside his Deputy, Okadigbo n the PDP State Chairman, Vena n few others… According to him, he was shocked that, our Chiefs were still receiving a paltry some of 40k as take home or monthly stipends from the Government. He also said, it's an abuse to the custodians of our culture. Whereas, he made references to our neighboring States and compared them to our Clan Heads, and he nodded his head is shame… However, Sir Arthur Javis said all of that without making any personal efforts to alleviate or better-still, augment their sufferings, rather, he left about 40-70 Chiefs with a little sum of 1m for transportation. Be it as it may, when the 1m is divided among the 70 Chiefs, each person will take home, 14k each. Sir Arthur Javis and his displaced Deputy Governorship candidate, Ogar Eba, forgot to appreciate one man, the natural leader of the North, High Chief Higgins Peters, a private businessman, who is augmenting the monthly stipends of the entire clan heads and the five paramount rulers in Northern Cross River Senatorial District, an independent outreach that started since last year. I know it's time for politics and political gimmicks are permissible when pretenders and contenders gather our people to lie to them and place their hopes in a position that's never realizable. I am urging the PDP Governorship candidate and his team, not just speak to cajole our people, they should match their words with actions, after all, private and public individuals can still be philanthropists.
