Walla Walla police investigating downtown shooting that injured security guard

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Police are investigating after a security guard was shot at a downtown transit center, but said the incident is believed to be a targeted attack and there is no ongoing threat to the community. According to the Walla Walla Police Department, at about 10:03 p.m. on September 5 police responded to the Walla Walla Transfer Center at 108 west Main Street for reports of a person who had been shot. Police said they arrived to find a Valley Transit security officer had been shot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. According to Walla Walla police, their initial investigation suggested there had been multiple suspects who had worn face coverings and ran away after the shooting. Police said they have not yet located any suspects. As of September 7, no suspects in the shooting have yet been arrested. Walla Walla police at first urged the public to use caution in the downtown area at night, but later said their investigation found evidence that the shooting was a targeted attack and that there is no threat to the public.
