Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) handled a record 831,956 TEUs in August 2026, marking its highest-ever monthly container throughput. The volume was 19.54% higher than the 695,966 TEUs handled in August 2025.
The latest performance surpassed JNPA's previous monthly record of 771,418 TEUs, achieved in April 2026. Total cargo handled during August also increased 13.81% year on year to 9.74 million tonnes.
Among individual terminals, Bharat Mumbai Container Terminal (BMCT) recorded its highest monthly throughput at 303,032 TEUs, while NSFT also achieved a terminal record of 123,876 TEUs.
During April-August 2026, JNPA handled 3.83 million TEUs, representing growth of 15.45% compared with the corresponding period of the previous financial year. Total cargo throughput during the period reached 46.36 million tonnes, up 12.34%.
The record volumes underline JNPA's growing container-handling capacity and its expanding role as a major gateway for India's international trade.
