Middletown Family Fun Fest returns with music, vendors, and community traditions The Middletown Family Fun Fest, a 54-year tradition, returns this weekend to Wetherby Park with live music, vendors, and activities for all ages. Middletown Commissioner Paul Hayden, who has spent most of his life in the community, reflected on his childhood memories of the festival. Advertisement "They used to have a flatbed truck with some bales of hay on it, and they would have a street dance Friday night. There was a local band that would just kind of play," Hayden said. While the street dance is no longer part of the event, the festival offers plenty of attractions, including live music, with JD Shelburne opening Friday night, nearly 100 vendors, a kid zone, and a portable golf simulator for a closest-to-the-pin challenge. "There is nothing like this anywhere else; this is unique just to Middletown, and it's just a great way to meet your neighbors," Hayden said. For Hayden, now a grandfather, sharing the festival with his grandchildren is especially meaningful. "I get to see them enjoy what I enjoyed when I was a kid, and hopefully, when they have kids, they will bring them to the Middletown Family Fun Fest," he said. The festival's annual parade, a favorite among attendees, will take place Saturday at noon along Old Shelbyville Road near Wetherby Park. Earlier that morning, goat yoga will be held at 10 a.m. Organizers say the Middletown Family Fun Fest continues to bring the community together year after year.
