Bihars Anti-Corruption Bureau Arrests Three Officials in a Single Day

Patna, September 8 (Daily Kiran) : The Anti-Corruption Bureau in Bihar has intensified its efforts against corruption, leading to the arrest of three government officials on a single day. On Tuesday, the bureau conducted operations in different locations, resulting in the capture of a junior engineer, a clerk from the district transport office, and a sub-inspector from the traffic police.The first arrest occurred in Jehanabad, where Aman Kumar, a junior engineer overseeing the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) projects, was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of ₹20,000. The arrest followed a complaint from Ashok Kumar, who alleged that Kumar demanded the bribe to verify measurement records for three projects worth ₹6,77,790 in the Jamuk village panchayat. After verifying the complaint, a team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Asif Iqbal Mehdi was formed, and Kumar was apprehended at a roadside eatery near Ambedkar Chowk in Jehanabad.The second operation took place at the district transport office in Sheikhpura, where clerk Kunal Kumar was arrested for accepting ₹15,000. The complaint, lodged by Raju Prasad, claimed that Kumar requested the bribe in exchange for issuing a registration number for his agricultural tractor. Following confirmation of the allegations, a team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajendra Prasad arrested Kumar from the senior clerk's office within the transport office.The third incident unfolded in Patna, where Upendra Sah, a sub-inspector stationed at the traffic police station on JP Ganga Path, was caught taking a bribe of ₹10,000. The bribe was allegedly demanded in return for releasing a vehicle that had been impounded. After validating the complaint, a team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Shriram Chaudhary executed the arrest in the station's records room. The Anti-Corruption Bureau plans to present all three accused in a special court, and further investigations are ongoing.
