15-year-old driver crashes into ditch after father grabs steering wheel

by Christopher Hoffman Tue, September 8, 2026 at 11:19 AM SAN ANTONIO — A 15-year-old driver and her father ended up in a ditch after another vehicle tried to move into their lane on the Southwest Side. The crash happened just before 6 p.m. Monday off Southwest Loop 410 near Ray Ellison Boulevard and Lackland Air Force Base. Police said the teenager was driving when another vehicle attempted to move into her lane. The 15-year-old became frightened and tried to avoid the vehicle. Her father, who was riding with her, grabbed the steering wheel in an attempt to help correct the vehicle's direction. Instead, the vehicle went off the road, crossed a curb and ended up in a ditch. No word on if there were any injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
