LAHORE - Rain following intense heat and humid conditions brought relief to Lahore residents, lowering the temperature and making the weather pleasant, while the Met Office has forecast further rainfall during the next 24 hours. According to rainfall data released by the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Lahore, Iqbal Town received the highest rainfall at 29.2 millimetres. Samanabad recorded 27.8mm, followed by Gulshan-e-Ravi with 23.4mm and Islam Pura Bazaar with 13.2mm. Nishtar Town Director Office received 9.6mm, Garden Town Ali Block 7.8mm, Jail Road 6.4mm, Farooqabad 5mm and Sagian 5.2mm. Meanwhile, 1.6mm rainfall was recorded in Johar Town, 1mm at WASA Head Office Gulberg, 0.8mm at Lakshmi Chowk and 0.2mm at Pani Wala Talab. WASA Managing Director Ghufran Ahmed is continuously monitoring the drainage operation, while the agency has been placed on high alert on the special instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. In view of the heavy rainfall, Lahore Traffic Police also issued a rain advisory, urging motorists and citizens to adopt precautionary measures while travelling during the rain.
