Parliament House Roofs Start Leaking After Heavy Islamabad Rain

Heavy rainfall in Islamabad has exposed leaks at several points inside the Parliament House, with water accumulating in different parts of the building. The roof near the Senate Hall lobby reportedly started leaking, leaving water pooled on the floor. Parliament staff placed dustbins under the leaking sections to collect the water. Water reportedly started dripping from the ceiling of his chamber, while his Principal Staff Officer's room also saw water accumulation. Staff placed dustbins in the affected areas to prevent the water from spreading further. The persistent leakage has also reportedly started damaging the floor of Bilawal's chamber. Meanwhile, a rain emergency was declared in Islamabad and Rawalpindi following heavy rainfall in the twin cities. Authorities have deployed emergency teams and heavy machinery to several low-lying areas amid concerns about urban flooding. Shamsabad recorded the highest rainfall in Rawalpindi at around 116 millimeters. Heavy machinery has been deployed at Liaquat Bagh, Committee Chowk Underpass, Murree Road, Dhok Khaba, Circular Road and Sadiqabad. Officials are monitoring Nullah Lai and other vulnerable areas and have directed emergency teams to remain ready for any further rise in water levels.
