PHED Abolishes Over 450 Non-teaching Posts In Colleges

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Sep, 2026) The Punjab Higher education Department (PHED) on Saturday abolished more than 450 non-teaching posts in colleges across various divisions of the province. The move,which follows the elimination of government posts in schools,has raised concerns among teachers and employees of colleges. According to teachers and staff,colleges were already facing a shortage of personnel while the workload continues to increase. They said the abolition of additional non-teaching posts could further aggravate administrative difficulties. They expressed concern that the elimination of hundreds of posts could affect the administrative functioning of colleges,as the workload on existing staff would increase. The teachers and employees said the shortage of non-teaching staff could disrupt routine administrative operations and adversely affect the day-to-day functioning of educational institutions.
