Antigua and Barbuda Falcons beat St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by three wickets in the CPL at North Sound. Shadab Khan's quickfire 30 and Moeen Ali's unbeaten finish sealed the chase of 188.
NORTH SOUND: Antigua and Barbuda Falcons secured a three-wicket win over St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in their Caribbean Premier League match at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on Thursday, completing a chase of 188 with three balls to spare.
After being sent in, the Patriots posted 187-6. Dasun Shanaka provided the late momentum with an unbeaten 49 off 17 balls, striking five fours and four sixes. Kyle Mayers had earlier scored 34 from 18 deliveries, while Jason Holder made 27 off 25 and Andre Fletcher added 20. For the Falcons, Shadab Khan, Jayden Seales and Moeen Ali picked up one wicket each.
The Falcons' chase was kept together by Evin Lewis, who made 48 off 38 balls and hit five sixes, while Hasan Nawaz contributed 33 from 28. As the asking rate rose, Shadab accelerated the innings with 30 off 12 balls, including two fours and three sixes, before Moeen Ali finished unbeaten on 25 from 12 deliveries. Karima Gore also chipped in with 22 off 15 as the home side reached 188-7 in 19.3 overs.
Mayers and Holder took two wickets each for the Patriots, while Obed McCoy and Waqar Salamkheil claimed one apiece. The result handed the Falcons an important victory in their campaign, while the Patriots were left unable to turn Shanaka's late hitting into a winning total.
