Apple has released iOS 27.2, introducing Apple Pencil support for its foldable iPhone Duo and adding several features designed to improve video calls, artificial intelligence tools and the overall user experience. The update also introduces an 'Edge Light' feature intended to illuminate users' faces during video calls, according to The Verge. Apple had previously said Apple Pencil support would arrive on the iPhone Duo later in 2026. The company's first foldable iPhone features a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch outer screen, with redesigned iOS controls intended to work across both displays. FaceTime adds dual-camera support One of the notable additions in iOS 27.2 is dual-camera capture for group FaceTime calls. The feature allows users to show footage from both the front-facing camera and the rear cameras during a call. The update also introduces Edge Light, which is designed to improve the appearance of users' faces in video calls by providing additional illumination. The changes add to the foldable device's video and communication features, while giving users more flexibility when sharing their surroundings during conversations. Siri AI gains new capabilities and languages The latest software update expands Apple's AI features, allowing Siri to suggest actions within Messages. Siri AI support is also expanding to additional languages, including French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. Apple is also rolling out support for Google's SynthID AI watermark technology in the Photos app and Image Playground. The technology is designed to help identify AI-generated images, although its effectiveness depends on how the content is created and whether the watermark remains detectable. Apple updates Podcasts, Music and TV apps The update brings several smaller changes to Apple's software ecosystem. The Apple TV app on iPhone now supports user profiles, allowing different viewers to maintain separate experiences. Apple Podcasts is replacing its 'Up Next' queue with a 'New Episodes' list and adding a 'Continue Playing' section beneath it. The update also introduces a refreshed Apple Music logo. The changes accompany broader software updates across Apple's devices. Updates arrive across Apple's ecosystem Alongside iOS 27.2, Apple has released macOS 27.2, known as Golden Gate, as well as watchOS 27.2, visionOS 27.2, tvOS 27.2 and HomePod 27.2. The releases extend the latest software changes across Apple's computers, watches, headsets, televisions and smart speakers. For iPhone Duo users, the addition of Apple Pencil support is a significant expansion of the foldable device's capabilities, particularly for note-taking, drawing and other stylus-based tasks.
