WWE Raw on Monday kicked off the qualifying rounds for Money in the Bank PLE.
The special event, which usually takes place in June/July, was first announced for September 6 at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. However, it was later replaced by the first-ever Sunday Night's Main Event and rescheduled for October 10 at the same venue.
On September 7, the first qualifying match of both the Men's and Women's Money in the Bank took place.
Bron Breakker won the men's 3-way bout by defeating Ethan Page and Rey Mysterio, whom he speared for the pinfall victory.
Shortly afterward, the trio of Maxxine Dupri, Lyra Valkyria, and Sol Ruca clashed with the hopes of snatching the first spot in the PLE's women's ladder match.
While Dupri found brief moments to showcase her skills, the match largely looked built around Ruca and Valkyria, owing to multiple in-ring and backstage encounters between them over the Women's Intercontinental Championship.
The match also witnessed the return of Bayley, who was seen for the first time since July's WWE Saturday Night's Main Event, where she lost to her former tag team partner, Lyra Valkyria.
While Valkyria looked poised to qualify after hitting Dupri with Nightwing, Bayley pulled the referee out of the ring, thus stopping the count. Sol Ruca then hit her Sol Snatcher finisher on Valkyria for the win.
Sol Ruca Looks To Repeat Special Feat At WWE Money In The Bank
It is safe to say that Sol Ruca's main roster run has not been seamless; however, by competing regularly, she seems to have gotten her groove back, becoming one of the must-see superstars on WWE Raw. Ruca is also a former one-time Women's Intercontinental Champion on the red brand.
Her latest victory in the Money in the Bank qualifying match makes her a standout addition to the ladder match, given her experience in it and athletic prowess, which has been previously on display on NXT.
While cutting a backstage promo after her Monday victory, the 27-year-old vowed to hit a Sol Snatcher from the top of the ladder and win the MITB briefcase.
Woo! I'm going to Money In The Bank baby, mark my words, I will be hitting the Sol Snatcher off the ladder and I will be the sole survivor sitting on top of the ladder with that briefcase raised above my head. [H/T: Fightful]
