SIC establishes first divisional office in Mirpurkhas

Commissioners of the Sindh Information Commission (SIC), Muhammad Saleem Khan and Noor Mohammad Dayo, heard cases at its newly established first Divisional Office of SIC at Kirpur Khas- These cases pertained to Mirpurkhas Division, for which this Divisional Office has been established at the Directorate of Information, Mirpurkhas, according to STRI Act 2016. Executive Director of the Commission Zulfiqar Ali Shaikh was also present on the occasion. Commissioner-I Muhammad Saleem Khan said the Sindh Information Commission was making concerted efforts to raise public awareness about the Sindh Transparency and Right to Information Act, 2016. He said the purpose of holding hearings in Mirpurkhas was to effectively acquaint citizens and government officials with the role and mandate of the Commission. Muhammad Saleem Khan further said the Sindh Information Commission had also carried out inspections of various public institutions to promote transparency and ensure better governance. He added that the Commissioners and Executive Director of the SIC remained available at all times for communication, assistance and guidance regarding the right to information. Commissioner Noor Mohammad Dayo said the right to information law was being implemented across Pakistan. He said the Sindh Information Commission was a fully independent and autonomous body and was empowered to exercise powers akin to those of a Civil Court. Later, the Commission members visited the offices of the Information Department in Mirpurkhas and reviewed the arrangements for establishing a permanent office of the Sindh Information Commission there.
