Posted Monday, September 7, 2026 3:21 pm Arkesha Agagee was putting cookies into the oven when a car suddenly crashed into the front of the Subway where she was working at Plantation Point Shopping Center in Fairhope on Labor Day. 'I just happened to put cookies in the oven, and I walked back and I heard this loud boom,' Agagee, a Subway employee who was present at time, said. 'I didn't know what it was. I thought an earthquake happened. Then I thought the cookies exploded in the oven. I didn't know what happened.' A Fairhope police officer on the scene told GCM that at 12:02 p.m., an elderly woman was pulling in to park in front of Subway before accidentally hitting the gas and making impact on the building. The crash was described as an accident, with Fairhope Police saying it was the first wreck the woman who crashed has ever had and no injuries were reported. 'I'm just glad that everyone was okay and no one was seriously hurt,' Agagee said. Agagee was also glad to confirm that the cookies she had put in the oven also survived without a scratch. 'I wanted to leave early, but not like this,' Agagee quipped. 'I didn't think this was gonna happen.'
