CM aide directs effective measures for agriculture, education in Mardan

DLP Report PESHAWAR Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Population Welfare Tufail Anjum has directed the relevant authorities to take effective measures for the development of agriculture and education in PK-55 Mardan, besides ensuring necessary facilities for farmers and required resources for colleges. Chairing a meeting in Peshawar on Monday to review agriculture-related matters in PK-55, Tufail Anjum said modernising the agriculture sector, increasing productivity and ensuring the welfare of farmers were among the government's priorities. He stressed the need for comprehensive planning to develop agriculture in view of the growing impacts of climate change. The meeting reviewed the performance and initiatives of Agriculture Extension, Farm Research, Water Management, Soil Conservation and Agricultural Engineering departments. Officials briefed the meeting on measures being taken for the welfare of farmers and growers, ongoing projects to increase agricultural productivity and farmer awareness campaigns. The Special Assistant directed the authorities to provide farmers with proper guidance and facilities regarding modern farming techniques, efficient water use, soil conservation and measures to cope with climate-related challenges. He said development of the agriculture sector would improve the economic condition of farmers and contribute to the provincial economy and food security. Later, Tufail Anjum chaired a separate meeting to review educational facilities and issues faced by colleges in PK-55 Mardan. The meeting was briefed on the requirements and problems of Government Girls Degree College Khairabad Mardan, Government Degree College Bakhshali, Government Girls Degree College Rustam and Government Degree College Sawal Dher. The meeting discussed shortages of furniture, teaching and non-teaching staff, funds and other essential facilities in the colleges. Tufail Anjum directed the relevant authorities to assess the requirements of all colleges on a priority basis and ensure the provision of necessary funds and facilities. He said adequate basic facilities in educational institutions were essential for providing quality education, adding that the government was responsible for creating a conducive learning environment for students. The Special Assistant directed officials to address shortages of staff, furniture and other missing facilities without delay so that the educational process could continue smoothly and students could receive a quality learning environment.
