Fauda Season 4 recap & ending explained: Does Doron Kavillio survive the Jenin ambush and what happened to Eli, Sagi and Steve?

Fauda started on Israeli network Yes in 2015 and became a global Netflix thriller without sanding off the language or the mess. Lior Raz and Avi Issacharoff created it from undercover work and years of reporting. Raz also plays Doron Kavillio, the operator who keeps leaving the unit and never stays gone. The series runs in Hebrew and Arabic. Families get hit as hard as the raids. Season 4 is 12 episodes. It aired in Israel from 13 July to 28 September 2022 and landed on Netflix on 20 January 2023. The map widens: Jenin, Brussels, Beirut, the Syria border, then Jenin again. Omri Givon directed. Noah Stollman wrote with the creators. The regulars are still the spine. How does Fauda Season 4 start and how does the Brussels meeting go wrong? Season 4 picks up after Gaza. Doron has left the service and is running a horse farm. He is not calm. He nearly kills a man for trying to steal an animal. That is the first thing the season tells you about him. The job is over. The reflex is not. While he is out, Steve, Sagi and Nurit stop a bank robbery in Jenin. The robber left standing is Jamal Masalha, a sergeant in Palestinian Preventive Security. Dana takes him to Abu Osama. The interrogation points to a Hezbollah safehouse in Jenin. Computers. Satellite phones. A name: Adel Tawalbe. Adel murders Jamal before the rest of the network can be named. Gabi has been running a separate thread for a year. Omar Tawalbe, a young Hezbollah asset in Molenbeek, Brussels, wants out. Omar is the son of Ihad Tawalbe, a Jenin informant who once handed Islamic Jihad leaders to Israel, including his own brother. The family was broken up after that. Some went to Ramla. Omar went to Lebanon, then Europe. Gabi talks about him like a son. He asks Doron, at Sagi's wedding of all places, to come to Belgium as bodyguard for the extraction. Doron does not want it. He gets on the plane. The rendezvous in Brussels is a setup. Omar's cell grabs Gabi and kills the other Israeli agents on the ground. Belgian detective Angela inherits a crime scene and a diplomatic headache. Doron blames himself and gets nowhere with local police. Station chief Ivri calls in Eli, Steve, Sagi and Nurit. Omar interrogates Gabi himself. He says he joined Hezbollah to atone for his father. While he works Gabi over, he feeds Adel names of collaborators. Adel's men start killing them, including Abu Kareem. Doron's team kidnaps the imam from Omar's Molenbeek mosque and squeezes him for a location. That location is a packed housing complex. Maya, Omar's sister, is already in the system by then. She is a decorated Israeli Arab police officer, married to a Jewish officer, Amos. Shin Bet detains the family. She is suspended because of the bloodline, not because anyone has proof she is in the plot. She goes to her mother looking for Omar and gets nothing useful. In Belgium, Nurit tells Doron she is pregnant. Sagi does not know. Doron also corners Eli over the old dismissal from the unit. None of that waits for a quieter hour. Deputy director of Shin Bet signs off on a joint raid with Belgian police. They kill several Hezbollah men inside the block and still miss the prize. Gabi is shot. Omar gets him out. There is enough blood that official Israel writes Gabi off as dead. Nurit is hit in the leg on that raid and is pulled from the field. Shani Russo comes in as cover. Doron flies home and refuses the funeral version of the story. Hezbollah in Lebanon even floats a prisoner swap. Shin Bet thinks they are bargaining over a corpse. Doron does not. Who are the Tawalbe cousins and how does Maya get used? Season 4 is a family story wearing an operations jacket. Omar is the guilty son. Adel is the cousin who turned that guilt into a network. Maya is the sibling who built a life on the Israeli side and is treated as contaminated the minute Omar's name comes up. Omar reaches her with messages and instructions. Raphael, who takes a harder line than Dana once Gabi is gone, sees a door. Shin Bet goes further than a phone tap. Operatives use a deepfake of Omar to nudge Maya into picking up fake passports for her brother. She is told she is helping him. She is actually walking toward Doron, who is posing as an Arab friend of Omar named Salim al-Hamis, near the Israel-Syria border. That is the part that still feels cold when you rewatch it. Maya is a police officer. She is also a sister. The service uses both. Meanwhile Adel is not waiting. Hezbollah hit teams go after Israeli agents and assets at home. Elad and Laci are targeted. A killer comes for Doron. Doron kills him, Abu Khaled, and warns Dana. Musab al-Adas, once Abu Osama's driver, tries to kill Dana and fails. He is captured. Dana forces him to work for Shin Bet by threatening to expose his relationship with the pharmacist Ismail Tamimi, the courier Eli's team lifted on a tip from Amira. It is ugly tradecraft and it works, for a while. Sagi and Nurit are coming apart at the same time. She tells him she wants to abort. He does not take it well. Later she changes her mind and decides to keep the girl, talking about doing it in memory of Avihai. Russo, new to this version of the team, starts asking herself what the work is worth after she has to treat Adel's son. Eli and Steve try to kill Adel with a car bomb in Jenin. Steve breaks the hit to save Adel's boy, Kareem. The child is critically hurt. Russo, posing as a Palestinian nurse called Yasmin, gets close to Shara while she sits with him. Adel visits and promises revenge. Dana tears into Eli, Steve and Sagi for bombing against her orders. The argument in that room is the season in miniature: what the unit is allowed to be, and what it already is. They try Musab next. Phone track. Meeting with Adel. Adel smells it, puts Musab in a car, and lets Shin Bet believe he is the one inside. A Predator drone takes the car. Musab dies in Adel's place. Soldiers sent to the rendezvous get hit by a masked gunman. Two go down. Adel is still walking. A Druze contact points them on. Hezbollah already knows two Israelis are in the pipeline. They know one is Maya. They do not have Doron's name yet. A Syrian checkpoint has their description. Doron kills the interrogator and his colleague, steals a car, and keeps the engineer cover going in a farmhouse. Maya finally says it out loud: she is an Israeli officer under investigation because of her brothers. He gets Raphael back on the line. Hezbollah orders them taken before the missile plan can be blown. How does the team find out Gabi is alive, and what does Adel do with the missiles? The turn sits in a grove in Lebanon. Shin Bet wants to use Omar's wife, Aisha, as bait and put a drone on him. Doron goes off the plan, kills her bodyguards, and takes Maya and Aisha with him. He uses them to pull Omar into the open. He is ready to finish it. Omar stops him with the only sentence that could: Gabi is alive. Hezbollah is holding him. They are preparing to move him toward Iran. Doron makes Raphael and Dana swallow that. A Christian Lebanese asset, Nimer, runs a safehouse and scouts a fortified villa in Beirut's Saifi Village. Haj Ali is there. The transfer is real. Eli's team is sent in. The cover is Lebanese police. Omar is allowed to see Maya and Aisha first. Maya talked him into cooperating against a promise of prison visits. That promise does not survive the night. In Jenin, Dana gets a garage. Eli, Steve, Sagi and Russo hit it and find a missile stockpile. Adel escapes that fight too. Russo is already shaky after Kareem. The weapons pile does not make the work feel cleaner. The rescue itself is a race to a Lebanon-Syria crossing. Disguised as police, the team stops a car of Hamas officials and, with Omar's help, gets the convoy route. They reach the border before Haj Ali can push Gabi into Syria. There is a gunfight with Hezbollah and Syrian forces. They get Gabi to the helicopters. Then Gabi sees Omar, takes Doron's gun, and shoots him. Maya is standing there. That is the end of Omar Tawalbe, and the end of Maya's belief that any of these people were going to keep a bargain. Doron takes Gabi to the farm. Gabi sits with his wife and son and still looks like a man who gave up a list under torture. Adel uses that list and the rockets he still has. He forces an Israeli Arab farmer, Abu Ibrahim, to host launchers. The missiles reach Israeli towns. Eight people die. Abu Ibrahim is grabbed and points at a refugee camp. A straight assault would flatten civilians. Gabi, of all people, sells Dana a different idea. Give the Tawalbes Omar's body. Let them bury him in Jenin. Adel will come. Steve's marriage ends in the same stretch. Anat takes their son Michael. Doron, already divorced, sits with him. Eli has been trying to get out of the service for half the season. Nurit is keeping the baby. The people walking into the funeral plan are not a fresh team. They are the leftover one. Fauda Season 4 ending explained : Does Doron survive the Jenin ambush and what happened to Eli, Sagi and Steve? Doron survives. Adel does not. Eli, Sagi, Steve and Russo are badly wounded. Season 4 does not show a death certificate for the three men named in every search. It shows a courtyard, a knife, and a helicopter that arrives after the shooting has already done its work. The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories calls Maya about Omar's remains. She and her mother take the body for a Jenin funeral. Doron tells Dana and Gabi the family has been used enough. He is overruled. The plan is not a burial. It is a lure dressed as one. Capture was the original pitch. By the briefing table it is already sliding toward a kill. The unit puts on Hamas kit, takes control of the procession, and walks Omar through Jenin. A disguised Doron warns Maya to get her people out. Adel turns up to claim the martyr and the crowd. Maya breaks the costume. She names them as special forces. From her side it is the last thing she can do that is not collaboration. From the unit's side the trap has just been announced to the man it was built for. Adel runs for a safehouse. The street fight becomes a compound fight. Vehicles take fire. An IED goes in. Backup is late, which is a habit this show refuses to drop. Eli's group pushes in to support IDF soldiers already getting cut to pieces and gets penned. A sniper puts Sagi down. Steve goes back for him and is hit. Adel's men try to drag the wounded off as prizes. The same shooter finds Eli. Russo is in that wounded group too. Doron and Shani go into the building after the sniper. Adel shoots Shani in the back. Then it is the two of them. Adel puts a knife in Doron's gut. Doron still finishes the fight and kills him, and kills the men with him before they can take the fallen operators as hostages. Whatever Adel still knew about the next wave goes with him. That was the argument for taking him alive. It dies in the same room. Dana sends helicopters. The last frame is the one that held the gap until Season 5. Doron is on the ground with the others. He is holding on. Russo is telling him not to go under. Rotors are coming. Blood on more than one uniform. No cutaway to a hospital. No radio call that says who has a pulse. He is stabbed and left in the dirt, not killed. Adel Tawalbe dies by Doron's hand. Omar is already dead, shot by Gabi in Lebanon. Gabi is alive and wrecked. Maya is alive and done with Doron. Nurit never enters that street; she is pregnant and already off the line. Eli, Sagi and Steve are all shot in the final minutes. The episode language is 'seriously wounded,' not buried. Steve is hit because he will not leave Sagi. Eli is hit after he walks into a corner to pull other soldiers out. If you want a neater body count, Season 4 will not give you one. What to expect from Fauda Season 5 on Netflix Season 5 is 11 episodes. Netflix has it worldwide from 8 September 2026 in Hebrew, Arabic, French and English. Raz and Issacharoff bin-ned the scripts they had ready after 7 October 2023. Raz has called this the most important thing they have written, a revenge season that is supposed to end somewhere else, on the cost of the loop rather than the thrill of it. The spine: two years after the attack, Doron is still carrying that day when an old friend's unofficial revenge run in Marseille yanks him into another cover job. The unit then has to stop a major attack on Israel. Two episodes go back to 7 October and stay with Doron, Eli and Steve through it. Those chapters carried graphic warnings in Israel. The rest sits in 2025, a lot of it in France. The shoot was meant for Marseille and moved to Budapest. Raz is back. Cohen is back as Gabi. Zada Daniel is back as Eli. Ben-David is back as Steve. Ayoub is in it as Maya. Mélanie Laurent joins as Anne. Hakim Djaziri joins as Saeed. Idan Amedi is not a regular. He was badly wounded on reserve duty in Gaza in 2024 and has been focused on recovery and music. That absence is not a twist. It is the reason Sagi is not standing in the new publicity shots.
