Walter A. Minnick

Walter A. Minnick, II , 83, of Kirklin passed away September 7, 2026 at Maple Park Village in Westfield, Indiana. He was born to Alvin J. and Wauneita N. (Dyer) Minnick on February 2, 1943. He married Loretta E. Zollman January 8, 1983 and she survives. Walter was a graduate of Broad Ripple High School and went on to graduate from IUPUI with a degree in accounting. Walter also proudly served his country in the US Navy, serving from 1965-1969 on the USS Canopus. He also continued to serve with the National Guard. Walter went on to work a number of jobs in his lifetime, including for International Harvester and served as an Industrial Engineer for Federal Mogul, AM General, and Ternes Packing. Upon retirement, Walter served for G4S Security Solutions and Securitas Security Solutions as well. He was a Mason at the Masonic Lodge in West Newton. Walter was also very involved in his Clinton County community. He served on the Kirk's Crossing Festival Committee as well as the Kirklin Town Council from 1992 until the present day. He volunteered for the Kirklin Youth Center as well as was a Kirklin Park Board Member. He was the Commander and Chaplin for the Kirklin American Legion Post 310, was a member of the Kirklin Christian Church, and was a dedicated member of the Downtown Revitalization of Kirklin. Walter also was a member of the Clinton County Area Plan Commission and a member of the Clinton County Steering Committee for County Board of Zoning Appeals. He served as a Little League Coach for both baseball and soccer. In 2004, Walter was honored to receive the John Reeves award from the Indiana Rural Water Alliance. In addition to all of his time serving, Walter also enjoyed all of the cherished times he spent with his family. He never missed an event that his children or grandchildren were involved in. He also was a sports fan, including the Indiana Fever, Indy Fuel, the Colts, and Indy Car. He loved to golf and especially enjoyed his trips to Disney as well as to Gatlinburg. Surviving are: his wife, Loretta of Kirklin; his daughters, Deborah (Frederick) Simon of Montana, Amy (Tim) Moore of Florida, Kenneth (Melinda) Jobe of Kirklin, and Mindy Pryor of Frankfort; his grandchildren, Angela, Anthony, Allison, Alexander, and Andrew Simon , Alec (Chrissy), Austin (Mitchell), and Ashlyn Moore, Kortney (Jack Bond) Jobe, Rachel Applegate, and Jenny (Tre Robinson) Pryor; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Alvin and Wauneita; his son, Matt Minnick, and his brother, Stanley Earle Minnick. Friends may visit Thursday, September 10, from 4-7 p.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort, IN. A funeral service will be held Friday, September 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Horton officiating.
