Busy Limerick petrol station forced to close temporarily after fire

A BUSY County Limerick service station and shop has been forced to close temporarily following a fire. The blaze broke out at the Applegreen on the N21 at Coolanoran, Newcastle West, on Saturday. Local firefighters and gardai rushed to the scene. A video of the fire has been widely circulated on social media (see still photo from the clip below). Following a media query from Limerick Live, an Applegreen spokesperson confirmed that a small fire occurred in-store at their location at Newcastle West on Saturday morning. 'The team on site and emergency services acted swiftly to put the fire out,' said the spokesperson. 'The site is currently closed and will reopen as soon as practicable,' concluded the Applegreen spokesperson. The fire is not being treated as suspicious.
