UK interiors brand Graham & Brown has named its color, design and mural of the year, and for 2027, it's going deep on craft.
The 2027 Design of the Year is Roselle Grove, a richly hand-painted wallpaper inspired by the centuries-old tradition of Indian chintz. It traces a lineage from 16th-century block-printed cotton through European adaptation and into Lancashire's textile mills, now hand-painted in gouache by Graham & Brown's in-house design studio.
'As chintz grew in popularity across home furnishings and fashion, European designers adapted the style, introducing larger floral motifs with a distinctly unique Western expression,' said Graham & Brown stylist Paula Taylor. 'Creating Roselle Grove as our 2027 Design of the Year felt like a natural way to honor this rich industrial and creative legacy.'
The company has paired it with its 2027 Color of the Year, Rose Earth, which it described as 'a warm, versatile shade drawn from natural mineral pigments traditionally sourced from Italian clay.' It's designed to work well solo or against warm neutrals, soft sage and cooler tones, the company said.
Rounding out the trio is Red Rose County, Mural of the Year. It is a hand-painted, panoramic depiction of the Lancashire countryside, including local landmarks Rivington Pike and Jubilee Tower, created by in-house designer Victoria Davison.
Graham & Brown's picks for next year dovetail with the company's 80 th anniversary. Brand & Marketing Controller Iona Graham, the great-granddaughter of company co-founder Henry Graham, called it 'a proud milestone for the business.'
'Together, these designs tell our story of craft, color and heritage, each in their own unique ways,' she said.
